Sommerstorf is a district of the municipality Grabowhöfe in the Mecklenburg Lake District , about 14 kilometers north of Waren (Müritz) in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , between Mecklenburg Switzerland and the Mecklenburg Lake District . The place has about 80 inhabitants.

Village church

The area of ​​Sommerstorf was settled as early as the Bronze Age, as can be seen from the barrows in the area. The village itself was first mentioned in a document in 1289 and had its own pastorate until the Thirty Years' War , before the community became a subsidiary of Vielist .

Buildings

The village church Sommerstorf is worth seeing , a Gothic brick building on a field stone base from around 1300, with a tower and vestibule from the beginning of the 15th century.

Personalities

The poet Johann Heinrich Voss was born on February 20, 1751 in Sommerstorf. The house he was born in is now the “Zum Hufschmied” inn with “tobacco and pipe storage”.
