Kevin Korjus (born January 9, 1993 ) is an Estonian racing driver . He competed in Formula Renault 3.5 in 2011 and 2012 . In 2013 he started in the GP3 series .

Career

Like most motorsport enthusiasts, Korjus began his career in karting and was active in this sport until 2008. He also made his debut in formula racing for the TT Racing Team and immediately became runner-up in the Finnish Formula Renault . In 2009 he stayed with the TT Racing Team and competed in the Northern European Formula Renault. With a second place as the best result, he finished fifth in the drivers' championship at the end of the season. In 2010 he moved to the Finnish racing team Koiranen Bros. Motorsport and competed in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup . Korjus was right at the front and scored a victory in the first race. With a total of nine victories, he secured the championship title one race weekend before the end of the season. At 17 years old, Korjus is the youngest champion in the history of this racing series. In addition, he took part in five races of the northern European Formula Renault and won all races. He finished eighth in the overall standings.

In 2011 Korjus competed in the Formula Renault 3.5 for the Tech 1 Racing team , which won the team championship the previous year . In his second race in Alcañiz he won his first race. This made him the youngest driver to date to win a race in this championship. In the course of the season, two more victories followed in Monza and on the Nürburgring . He ended the season in sixth place in the drivers' championship. In addition, he took for DAMS on a race weekend of the Auto GP part. After the season he completed his first Formula 1 test for Renault . In 2012 Korjus contested his second season in Formula Renault 3.5. Initially he stayed with Tech 1 Racing. While his team-mate Jules Bianchi drove for the title, Korjus achieved only a podium finish with a third place. After the sixth race weekend, Tech 1 and Korjus, who immediately is that of separated Charouz Racing System managed Lotus joined team. Korjus remained without a win in the 2012 season and ended the season in tenth place in the drivers' standings. Korjus also took part in the Macau Grand Prix in 2012 .

In 2013 Korjus returned to Koiranen GP and joined the GP3 series with the team . With two second places as the best results, Korjus was overall seventh as the best driver of his team. Korjus also took part in an event of the European Formula 3 Championship and the Macau Grand Prix .
