Celso Míguez

Celso Míguez Pereira (born May 1, 1983 in Pontevedra ) is a Spanish racing driver .

Career

Míguez began his motorsport career in 1990 in kart racing , in which he was active until 2000. In 2001 he was in the French Formula Campus his debut in Formula racing . In 2002 he switched to Formula Nissan 2000 and was sixth overall with three podium finishes. In addition, he entered the Spanish Formula 3 championship for half a season and finished 13th overall. In 2003 he stayed in Formula Nissan 2000, which had since been renamed World Series Light , and started for Meycom . While his teammate Juan Cruz Álvarez won the championship title, the Spaniard improved to fifth overall. In 2004 Míguez played his third season in the World Series Light for Meycom. With three wins he was runner- up behind Miloš Pavlović . He also made two guest starts in Spanish Formula 3.

In 2005 Míguez moved to Pons Racing in the World Series by Renault . While his team-mate Adrián Vallés was runner-up, he only scored points in four races and finished the season in 19th place overall. In 2006 the Spaniard started the season with Pons Racing. After he couldn't keep up with his team-mate James Rossiter , he was replaced by Tristan Gommendy after six racing weekends . Míguez himself played the rest of the season for Comtec Racing . Although he was able to achieve better performance at Comtec , he was clearly distanced from his teammate Alx Danielsson , who won four races in the same period and secured the championship title. In the end, he finished 24th in the overall ranking. In 2007 he initially stayed in the World Series by Renault and received a cockpit at EuroInternational . After the first five races he was replaced by Jaap van Lagen and at the end of the season he finished 23rd in the drivers' championship. The Spaniard then took part in a Euroseries 3000 race weekend for G-Tec and achieved a podium finish with third place.

In 2008 he returned to the Spanish Formula 3 championship and competed again for Meycom. With a second place as the best result, he finished 14th overall at the end of the season. After renaming the series in European F3 Open , Míguez switched to Drivex . The Spaniard won five races and was the driver with the most wins. Nevertheless, he was defeated by Bruno Méndez at the end of the season with just two points and became runner-up.

In 2010 Míguez moved to RP Motorsport in the Auto GP , in which he had already started in 2007 when the series was called Euroseries 3000. After the fourth race weekend he was replaced by Giacomo Ricci and finished 14th overall with a second place as the best result. He also competed in the Superleague Formula on two race weekends for two teams supported by Drivex in the 2010 season . After the tenth race weekend, he was still unable to show the finish line.
