Bruno Méndez Cittadini (born September 10, 1999 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan soccer player who has been under contract with the Brazilian first division club Corinthians São Paulo since February 2019 .

Career

society

At the age of 4 Méndez started playing football for the capital city club Danubio FC , where he played with Nicolás Schiappacasse , among others . After he had no chance at Danubio, he went to the youth of the Montevideo Wanderers . In 2017 he was promoted to the Bohemios first team by coach Jorge Giordano . On November 19, 2017, he made his debut in the 1-0 home win against Rampla Juniors in the Primera División . He scored his first competitive goal on October 21, 2018 in a 5-0 away win over River Plate Montevideo .

On February 20, 2019, Méndez moved to the Brazilian first division club Corinthians São Paulo for a transfer fee of 3 million euros , where he signed a contract until the end of 2023. He made his league debut on June 9 in a 0-0 draw against Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte .

National team

Méndez represented the Uruguayan U-17 national team in at least one game. On April 3, 2018 he made his debut for the 20 team U of Celeste and currently he is the captain of this.

In November 2018, due to injuries to central defenders Diego Godín and Marcelo Saracchi , he was nominated for the first time for the Uruguayan A selection on the occasion of the friendlies against Brazil and France . He made his debut on November 16 in a 1-0 loss to Brazil.
