Yago Fernando da Silva , called Yago , (born August 29, 1992 in São Paulo ) is a Brazilian soccer player . He plays in the position of a central defender.

Career

Yago started his athletic training with Portuguesa at the age of fourteen . At youth tournaments he was so positive that SC Corinthians signed him.

At the beginning of his professional career he was loaned to the lower-class clubs Marília AC and CA Bragantino to gain experience. Before being loaned to the CA Bragantino, he played in the São Paulo state championship in 2013 and was able to win this title. At the beginning of the 2015 season he returned and made his first appearances in the top Brazilian division. Yago played his first Série A game on May 10, 2015 in the away game against Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte . In the 1-0 victory, Yago was in the starting line-up. He was able to celebrate the championship at the end of the season with eight more appearances. Yago made his international club debut in the 2016 Copa Libertadores . On February 17, 2016 he played against the CD Cobresal . Six more missions followed.

For the 2017 season, Yago was loaned to the AA Ponte Preta until December of that year . At the start of the 2018 season, Yago was initially still in the Corinthians squad, but was loaned to Botafogo FR early on . After the season, Yago did not return to Corinthians, but was loaned to the Goiás EC for a year . In December 2019, the loan was extended for a further six months.

After a game in the São Paulo state championship on March 6, 2016 against FC Santos , Yago tested positive for the drug betamethasone . On May 10, 2016, Yago was banned for 30 days by the FPF , the football association of the state of São Paulo.
