The Grupo André Maggi ( Amaggi ) is the largest private soybean producer in the world. In addition to arable land, the company also has warehouses, export terminals and ships.
In the 2013/2014 season, 467,000 t of soybeans, 369,000 t of maize and 116,000 t of cotton were harvested on 232,600 hectares of arable land . In Lucas do Rio Verde ( Mato Grosso ), Itacoatiara ( Amazonas ) and Fredrikstad (Norway) there are oil mills for soy processing.
history
Amaggi was founded in 1977 by André Maggi of Italian descent as a seed producer. In the 1980s, he bought large estates in Mato Grosso and got into soy production. There he also had the city of Sapezal built.
After his death in 2001, his son Blairo Maggi took over the company.
