from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Amtsvogtei Essel was a historical administrative area of the Principality of Lüneburg and the Kingdom of Hanover .

history

The Amtsvogtei Essel , which only included the parish Schwarmstedt , was established in 1450 and was subordinate to the Großvogtei Celle until its abolition . In fact, it had already achieved the status of an independent office beforehand. After the Prussian (from 1802) and Westphalian (from 1807) rule it was restored to its old size, but soon after 1814 the administration was transferred to the bailiff in Bissendorf . In the course of the administrative reform of 1852, the Amtsvogtei Essel was abolished and incorporated into the Ahlden office.

In Essel, the street Am Amtshof is a reminder of the official buildings erected at the end of the 16th century.
