Mateus da Silva Vital Assumpção (born October 12, 1998 in Rio de Janeiro ) is a Brazilian soccer player who has been under contract with the first division club Corinthians São Paulo since January 2018 . The attacking midfielder has been the Brazilian U23 international since June 2019 .

Mateus Vital, who was born in Rio de Janeiro , began his football training in 2003 with CR Vasco da Gama . During the 2015 season he was promoted to the first team. He made his debut in the top Brazilian division on the last day of the season when he was substituted on for the injured Diguinho in the 0-0 draw against Coritiba FC in the 29th minute of the game . With the Gigante da Colina he had to accept relegation to the second highest Brazilian division . With the team he won the Campeonato Carioca in spring 2016 . In the following game year, 2016 , he again played a league game and rose with the club back to the Série A. In the next 2017 season , he advanced to the starting lineup. On September 9, 2017 (23rd matchday), he shot his team with his first league goal for Vasco to a 1-0 home win against Grêmio Porto Alegre . In 30 league games this season, he scored two league goals and just as many assists.

On January 16, 2018, Mateus Vital moved to league rivals Corinthians São Paulo , where he signed a four-year contract. Eight days later he made his debut in a 2-1 home win in the Campeonato Paulista against the Associação Ferroviária de Esportes in the shirt of the Timão . He scored his first competitive goal on May 27, 2018 (7th matchday) in the 1: 2 away defeat against Internacional Porto Alegre . He quickly established himself as a regular player in the 2018 season and played a total of 33 league games in which he scored two goals. In the next season, 2019 , he retained his status as a starter and was used in 31 league games in which he scored two goals and as many assists.

National team

In June 2019, Mateus Vital took part in the tournament in Toulon with the Brazilian U23 national team, where he was used in four games. With the selection he won the competition and in the penalty shoot-out in the final against Japan he turned his attempt to good use.
