Career

Salaquarda began his motorsport career in 1996 in kart racing , in which he was active until 1999. In 2000 he competed in the Czech Ford Puma Cup and finished the season in third place overall. In 2001 he took part in the Czech Škoda Octavia Cup, in which he finished 13th overall. In 2002 he made his debut in formula racing in the German Formula BMW . He competed for his father Igor's racing team , Igor Salaquarda Racing (ISR), and finished 21st overall at the end of the season. In 2003 he contested his second season in the German Formula BMW and, with a third place as the best place, improved to 13th place overall. In 2004 he switched to the German Formula 3 Cup , where he again competed for his father's team. At the end of the season he finished eleventh in the overall standings.

In 2005 Salaquarda competed for ISR in the Formula 3 Euro Series . With eleventh places as the best results, he never made it into the top ten drivers and ended the season with no points in 23rd place overall. In 2006 Salaquarda stayed in the Formula 3 Euro Series and at the end of the season finished seventh as the best result, finishing 22nd in the drivers' championship. He also took part in two races of the F3000 International Master for Charouz Racing System and achieved second place in both races. He finished twelfth in the overall standings.

After Salaquarda had taken part in two A1GP races in winter 2006/2007 , he contested his third season in the Formula 3 Euro Series and for the first time did not compete for ISR but for HBR Motorsport in this championship . At the end of the season he finished 17th overall with a fifth place as the best result. He also competed for ISR on the last race weekend of the 2007 season of the International Formula Master, the successor series to the F3000 International Master. In the 2007/2008 season Salaquarda competed again in the A1GP and contested six races for the Czech A1 team . He then drove in his father's team for the entire 2008 season in the International Formula Masters alongside the German racing driver Tim Sandtler . In contrast to Sandtler, who was able to score points in a few races, Salaquarda managed to get points only once and he finished 24th overall at the end of the season.

After Salaquarda started in a race in the Le Mans Series in 2009, he made his debut in Formula Renault 3.5 for RC Motorsport on the third race weekend of the 2009 season . After just one race he changed the racing team and competed for the Prema Powerteam for the rest of the season . At the end of the season, with a tenth place as the best result, he finished 27th overall. In 2010 Salaquarda stayed in Formula Renault 3.5 and returned to his father's racing team, ISR Racing, who had taken over RC Motorsport. At his home race in Brno he started from pole position in both races and in race two achieved his first podium finish in Formula Renault 3.5 in third place. Another third place followed , but he couldn't keep up with his team mate Esteban Guerrieri , who won six races. He did not compete at a race weekend because his team had to take a break for technical reasons. At the end of the season he finished eleventh overall.

In 2011 Salaquarda competed in the Superleague Formula for the Sparta Prague team supported by Atech Grand Prix and Reid Motorsport . Two fifth places were his best results. Before that, he took part in the third Formula Renault 3.5 race weekend for Pons Racing . He also competed in two German Formula 3 races for Brandl Motorsport . Salaquarda also gained experience in GT racing. He took part in two races each of the Blancpain Endurance Series and the FIA GT3 European Championship . In both series he achieved a podium placement.

In 2012 Salaquarda left formula racing and switched to GT racing to the Ferrari factory team AF Corse in the FIA GT1 World Championship .
