The Škoda Octavia was initially a vehicle built by AZNP Škoda between spring 1959 and autumn 1971 , which was a further technical development and renaming of the Škoda 440 . The name stood for the brand's eighth post-war model.

In autumn 1996, Škoda again introduced a vehicle under this name. It is the first model to be developed and manufactured after Volkswagen took over Škoda . Technically, the car was based on the Golf IV . The first series of the new generation had sold 1.442 million units by 2010.

In the spring of 2004, the second generation based on the technology of the Golf V was launched . The old model continued to be sold as Octavia Tour in Germany and Octavia Drive in Austria until the end of 2010 . The Octavia has also been built in China since 2006 . There are assembly plants in India , Russia , Kazakhstan , Ukraine and Bosnia and Herzegovina .

The third generation of the Octavia appeared in February 2013 . First the sedan came on the market; The Combi followed at the end of May.
