The Škoda Kamiq is a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) from the Czech car manufacturer Škoda that has been in production since 2019. It is technically closely related to the Seat Arona and the VW T-Cross (see below ).

In China , the Shanghai Volkswagen joint venture also produces a car called the Škoda Kamiq . However, this is based on the PQ34 platform, which the VW Golf IV used as early as 1997 . This Kamiq has been offered exclusively on the Chinese market since June 2018.

history

Concept vehicle Vision X

A year before the official premiere of the Kamiq, Škoda showed a first preview of a compact SUV underneath the Škoda Karoq with the concept vehicle Škoda Vision X at the 88th Geneva Motor Show . The concept vehicle was powered by a natural gas variant of the 1.5 liter TSI engine of the type VW EA211 evo . The power was specified with 96 kW (130 PS) and 250 Nm torque, the acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 9.3 seconds and the top speed with 200 km / h. The CO ₂ emissions were Škoda with 89 g / km.

Production model

In March 2019, Skoda also presented the production version of the Kamiq in Geneva. It has been on sale since the end of June 2019. The first vehicles were delivered in September 2019. In January 2020, Škoda presented the Kamiq in the Scoutline equipment variant . It is characterized by off-road applications and went on sale in June 2020.

The Kamiq, like the Seat Arona and the VW T-Cross , is based on the MQB- A0 platform. In the Volkswagen Group , however, the dimensions of the Kamiq are similar to the Audi Q2 and the VW T-Roc . Like the Škoda Scala , it is larger than the other models on the A0 platform.

Technical specifications

The basic engine in the Kamiq is a one-liter, three-cylinder engine with 70 kW (95 hp). It has a 5-speed manual transmission . All other engines are equipped with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed dual clutch transmission . All variants have front-wheel drive ; All-wheel drive is also not available for an extra charge.
