The Škoda Rapid is a coupé from the Czechoslovak vehicle manufacturer AZNP under the Škoda brand. There were the models Škoda Rapid 130, 135 and 136. In addition, there were convertible versions . The vehicles were produced in Kvasiny from 1984 to 1990 . The Rapid 135 version cost 88,000 Kčs. The predecessor was the Škoda Guard . The Rapid looked a little different than the Garde, had a more powerful engine and interior fittings that were partly from Saab . The 135 and 136 Rapid were only produced for export, as knock-proof fuel for the higher-compression engine was hardly available in Czechoslovakia . From 1985 a five-speed transmission was standard equipment. One could only acquire it through parallel imports . As with the predecessor, the design basis was the Škoda 742 from 1984. The designer was Giorgio Giugiaro . The coupé was manufactured with a 1.2-liter engine as early as 1982, but was only later given the name Rapid . The Rapid was not part of the GDR's import program .
