The Škoda Hispano Suiza 25/100 PS , also Škoda license Hispano Suiza 25/100 PS called, was an upper class - passenger cars , the 1926 to 1929 by the Czech industrial group Škoda was made. The vehicle was a license replica of the Hispano Suiza Type H.6B .

Model history

In the early 1920s, as part of a comprehensive restructuring, Škoda also planned to build its own luxury class automobile and therefore acquired a production license for their top product H.6B in 1924 from the Spanish-French automobile and armaments company Hispano Suiza . This vehicle, presented in 1919 as the H.6, was considered one of the best on the market. In 1925 there was a merger between Škoda and the automobile manufacturer Laurin & Klement , which gave the group the know-how for automobile construction. Production of the 25/100 PS began at Škoda in Pilsen in 1925 . One of the first customers was the Czechoslovak government, which on July 25, 1925, ordered a 25/100 hp as a company car for President Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk . The car was delivered in May 1926.

The production of the elaborate and very expensive car ended in 1929; the last one was delivered the following year. The production amounted to a minimum of 50 and a maximum of 101 vehicles.

technology

The vehicle largely corresponds to the Hispano Suiza H.6B. The water-cooled in- line six-cylinder four-stroke engine has a displacement of 6654 cm³ and an output of 100 hp (74 kW). It accelerates the vehicle up to 140 km / h. The alloy engine is of a V12 - aircraft engine derived, only one of the cylinder bank was needed. It has 12 valves in the engine block and dual ignition . The motor has a 100 mm bore and 140 mm stroke . Mathematically are the 6597 cc displacement . However, two sources give 6654 cm³ displacement. The engine output is 135 bhp at 2600 rpm. The maximum torque is 475 Nm at 1600 rpm. The lower output of the 25/100 hp is due to a lower compression ratio , which was due to the lower octane rating of the fuel.

The three-speed gearbox flanged to the engine block is unsynchronized . The power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a cardan shaft . The box frame of the car consists of riveted steel U-profiles. The vehicle has rigid axles at the front and rear that are suspended from semi-elliptical springs and the Houdaille system lever shock absorbers . A special feature of the H.6 series is its mechanical brake booster.

All superstructures were made of a wood-steel mixed construction and were built according to customer requirements. It is not known whether and which versions were offered as factory bodies. Škoda's in-house body department contributed a total of 23 superstructures, the remaining chassis received superstructures from special companies.
