The Škoda Fabia is a small car from the Czech manufacturer Škoda, which is part of the Volkswagen Group . The Fabia II came onto the market in spring 2007 as the successor to the Škoda Fabia I , initially only as a hatchback. The Combi followed at the end of 2007. However, a notchback variant like the predecessor was no longer offered.

A small facelift followed in spring 2010 . The Fabia RS followed a few months later .

In October 2012, the production of a notchback sedan, the Rapid , based on the Fabia and the VW Polo began.

Production of the second Fabia ended in June 2014. It was followed by the Škoda Fabia III .

Body styles

At 3.99 meters in length, 1.64 meters in width and 1.50 meters in height, the Fabia II is around two centimeters longer and four centimeters higher and narrower than its predecessor. This increases the trunk from 260 to 300 liters. With the bench seat folded down and loaded up to the roof, the volume increased from 1016 to 1163 liters. Since the end of 2008 there has been a Chinese version called Fabia Jing Rui .

In September 2007 the new Combi was presented at the IAA . The station wagon version of the Fabia I was produced until the end of 2007, but had not been available to order since mid-2007.

The new Combi is very similar in its technical data to the sedan, has the same wheelbase and is available with the same engines. The total length of the new model is given by the manufacturer as 4239 mm. The interior dimensions of the new Combi have also increased compared to its predecessor. The trunk volume increased to 480/1460 l and since 2010 to 505/1485 l (previously 426/1225 l). The Fabia II Combi has been available for order in Germany since November 22, 2007.

A study called Fabia Scout was also presented at the IAA 2007 . This version is a modified version of the new Combi, supplemented with off-road vehicle elements such as plastic cladding.

In addition, a fuel-saving version was presented as part of the GreenLine series.

In October 2010, Škoda presented a revised GreenLine version of the Fabia. By using a 1.2-liter common rail diesel with 55 kW (75 PS), an automatic start-stop system, recuperation (braking force recovery), tires with low rolling resistance, the adaptation of the engine control unit and aerodynamic changes to the body and underbody According to the manufacturer, the Fabia and Fabia Combi combine 3.4 l / 100 km, the CO 2 emissions are 89 g / km.

There is no longer a delivery van variant ( Fabia Praktik ) of the Škoda Fabia II, as this role is taken over by the new Škoda Praktik , which is based on the Roomster . In 2007 there was a concept called Fabia Super 2000 .

The second edition of the Fabia was developed and designed at the same time as the Roomster. Like the Roomster, the Fabia also received the red dot award for its design.

Facelift

In spring 2010, the Škoda Fabia was visually and technically revised. The entire front end including the front section was changed and the interior and dashboard were upgraded.

In addition, two new engines were added to the range: a 1.2 TSI and a 1.6 TDI, each with 77 kW (105 PS). With the new generation, the sporty Fabia RS appeared , in Great Britain and Ireland vRS . This is powered by the 1.4 l TSI engine with 180 hp from the Polo GTI. It is also available as a station wagon. Sales of the Fabia RS started in August 2010.

In spring 2011 the Fabia Monte Carlo was presented at the Geneva Motor Show. The difference to the normal standard equipment is made by sports seats in red or black, leather elements in the interior, a sports chassis that is 15 millimeters lower than the standard model, black 16-inch alloy wheels, headlights, tinted windows and on-board computer . The special model is only available in six engine versions (petrol and diesel) from 70 to 105 hp.

A few months before the market launch of the third generation, the last copies of the Fabia II rolled off the production line at the end of June 2014. In the transition period only warehouse vehicles were sold.
