The compact sedan Škoda Rapid is a car model produced by the car manufacturer Škoda Auto since October 7, 2011 . This version for emerging and developing countries must be differentiated from the model available for Europe from 2012, also with the designation "Rapid" .

The Indian Rapid model differs in several details from the European version: The design is kept simpler, the front section was taken from the Škoda Fabia . Because of the often poor roads, the vehicle has a higher ground clearance and a softer chassis setting. The interior has a simpler design, various typical European features are not available.

The Škoda MissionL study was presented at the International Motor Show in September 2011 . That was the advance notice for the Rapid.

Production began at the Chakan Škoda VW plant in India . The vehicle is in the product range between the Fabia and the Skoda Octavia settled and technically largely identical to the notchback version of the VW Polo V . The trunk in the rear of the vehicle has a volume of 500 liters.

The name Rapid has already been used several times by the Czech company, most recently for the Škoda Rapid 130 coupé in the 1980s.
