The Škoda Garde is a sporty coupé from AZNP under the Škoda brand. The vehicle was produced in Kvasiny from 1981 to May 1982 . Production was then relocated to Bratislava , Slovakia ; the Guard became the first car to be produced in large quantities on Slovak soil. The manufacturing quality of the new plant in Bratislava was problematic; the quality could not keep up with the decades of experience of the Kvasiny plant. The predecessor was the Škoda 110 R . In Germany the Guard was sold under the name Rapid . Technically and externally, it was based on the 742 series. The vehicle was liquid-cooled .
