The Škoda Superb is a passenger car model from the Czech car manufacturer Škoda .

The name Superb traditionally bears the manufacturer's top model, which was first used from 1934 as an additional name to the type designation "640". After a few years the number in the name disappeared. The last model of this luxury vehicle was produced in 1949. The name Superb comes from French and means great, wonderful.

The model, which has been produced since 2001, was classified as a mid-range vehicle by the Federal Motor Transport Authority . The specialist press assigns the Superb to the upper middle class . As a result, competitors are VW Passat , Ford Mondeo , Opel Insignia , Mazda 6 but also Mercedes-Benz E-Class , BMW 5 Series , Audi A6 , Volvo S90 / Volvo V90 and Jaguar XF .

Since the market launch in 2001 up to and including December 2019, a total of 216,165 Škoda Superbs have been newly registered in the Federal Republic of Germany. With 24,145 units, 2016 was the most successful sales year. After the Combi was launched in 2010, the number of registrations increased significantly.
