The Škoda Felicia is a passenger car of Škoda , between October 1994 and June 2001 as successor to the Škoda Favorit was produced. The station wagon version, the successor to the Forman , was now called Felicia Combi and went on sale in July 1995.

history

The first version of the Felicia (1994 to 1998) is the first Škoda after the takeover by Volkswagen AG, which was built with the technical participation of VW, even if its basic features were based on the predecessor Favorit. Numerous VW parts or parts from VW suppliers were installed, such as the 1.6-liter petrol engine and the diesel from Volkswagen. The exterior mirrors also came from the VW Polo III .

In January 1998 the Felicia received a facelift , during which even more VW technology flowed into the Felicia. Also in 1998 there was a concept called Felicia Golden Prague .

At the end of 1999 the Felicia was replaced by the Škoda Fabia I , which was available as a notchback under the name Fabia Sedan in addition to the hatchback sedan and estate .

In June 2001 the last Felicia rolled off the production line.

Škoda had already manufactured a car with the name Felicia between 1959 and 1964 . It was a renamed small sports convertible Škoda 450 and not the predecessor of the model from the 1990s.

New registrations and current stock in Germany

The number of annual new registrations in Germany from 1995 is listed according to statistics from the Federal Motor Transport Authority .

year 1995 1996 1997 1998 1999 2000 2001
number 18,120 21,187 21,069 18.094 17,398 10,041 83

According to the final report of the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control , 9,298 Škoda Felicia were scrapped between January 27, 2009 and July 31, 2010 in favor of the environmental bonus . The Felicia thus had a share of 63.2% of all scrapped Škoda cars. In 2017, 9,492 Skoda Felicia were still registered in Germany.

Engines

The Felicia was delivered with both Škoda and VW engines: the less powerful petrol versions with 54 hp and 68 hp were equipped with the aluminum engine from Škoda, which was first used in the rear-engined Škoda 742 . The more powerful petrol engines with 75 hp and the diesels had VW gray cast iron engines, as were also installed in the Polo and Golf III.

The intake manifold injection in gasoline engines initially had a mono-Motronic control unit and was a single-point system. It was later replaced by multi-point injection, in which each cylinder has its own injection nozzle. Few vehicles, especially those built for the Eastern European market, have a carburetor . The carburettor engines generated an output of 42 kW (57 hp) to 43 kW (58 hp).

The models with a gasoline engine are not E10 compatible.

Model variants

Available equipment lines were:

  • LX
  • LXi
  • GLX
  • GLX 1.9D
  • GLXi
  • LXi 1.6
  • GLX 1.6
  • GLXi 1.6
  • GLXi 1.6 top
  • Felicia 2000
  • L&K

The “i” without the addition “1.6” indicates the more powerful version of the original 1.3-liter Škoda engine.

For a short time the equipment line X was available, which was not prepared for the installation of a radio. In 1995 and 1996, on the occasion of the 100th birthday of Laurin & Klement, the Felicia L&K was brought onto the market. As is common today, the L&K also had full equipment in the Felicia (including leather seats with heated seats, electric windows (some also in the rear), a pop-out roof and many other pleasant extras). The L&K was only available with the 50 kW 1.3 liter Škoda aluminum engine and in the color “indigo blue”.

Pick up

A pick-up version of the Felicia was also offered from mid-1995. In Germany, pickups were delivered with an open loading area or a fixed roof structure. The pick-up was only available with a driver airbag, the facelift of the Felicia was not taken over.

Felicia Fun

A variant of the pick-up version is the Felicia Fun with a special color concept , which appeared in mid-1997 . The paintwork, the front bar and the leather interior are dominated by a striking shade of yellow. This also applies to the steering wheel, the instrument cluster, the gearshift lever and the 13-inch aluminum rims. The B-pillar and the headrests are factory-fitted with applications of a stylized frog prince from the Felicia Fun logo. With the Felicia Fun, the cabin rear wall can be folded as standard, creating a second row of seats under the open sky. Canopies and hardtops were offered as accessories so that passengers can be transported on the folding rear bench or objects on the loading area protected from the weather. The Felicia Fun was offered with the 1.6 i engine and only 4,016 were built.

Vanplus

The Combi was also available in some markets as a delivery van with a high roof without rear side windows under the name Vanplus .
