The Škoda 1200 (type 955) is a mid-range car from AZNP that appeared in 1952. It was the first Škoda with an all-steel body and a pontoon shape. The central tubular frame was essentially taken over from the predecessor Škoda 1101 Tudor .

The vehicles had a water-cooled four-cylinder in-line engine with a displacement of 1221 cm³, side camshaft, overhead valves and an output of 36 hp (26.5 kW) at a speed of 4000 rpm. It was equipped with a "Solex 26 UAHD" or "Jikov 26 UAHD" carburetor. The 3rd and 4th gear of the gearbox flanged to the engine were synchronized. The engine power was transmitted to the rear wheels via a cardan shaft. All the wheels were suspended individually, the front ones on a transverse leaf spring below and wishbones above, the rear on pendulum half axles with a transverse leaf spring. The steering works with a threaded spindle and steering nut, the brakes are hydraulically operated drum brakes on all wheels. The 1050 to 1220 kg heavy car reached a top speed of 90 to 105 km / h.

The vehicle was produced as a four-door sedan, station wagon and as a two-door delivery van. Together with his successor, 67,070 units were produced in the Mladá Boleslav , Kvasiny and Vrchlabí plants, including 26,956 notchback vehicles (sedans).

In 1954 there were some technical improvements in series production due to the experience gained in motorsport. Production of this vehicle ended in 1956. The successor model, the Škoda 1201 , appeared two years earlier .
