The Škoda Yeti is a compact SUV from the Škoda brand . The production version was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in spring 2009 and was available from August 29 of the same year.

At the end of 2017, the Yeti was replaced by the Škoda Karoq based on the Seat Ateca . In terms of size, the Škoda Kamiq, presented in March 2019, is to be regarded as the successor.

The model was manufactured in Kvasiny , by Škoda Auto India in Aurangabad , from 2012 in Nizhny Novgorod and with an extended wheelbase from November 2013 by Shanghai Volkswagen in Anting .

Model history

The Yeti was available with front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive .

The off-road drive train came from the Škoda Octavia II 4 × 4 in conjunction with a Haldex multi-plate clutch .

Three petrol engines with a displacement of 1.2 and 1.4 liters (81 kW / 110 PS, 92 kW / 125 PS and 110 kW / 150 PS) and two 2.0-liter diesels (81 kW / 110 PS, 110 kW / 150 PS) on offer. The gasoline engines with 81 and 92 kW were only available with front-wheel drive, while the 110 kW gasoline engine and the 110 kW diesel engine have all-wheel drive as standard, with the 81 kW diesel all-wheel drive was available as an option. A direct shift gearbox (DSG) was available for all engines (except for the 2.0 TDI 81 kW) at an additional cost . A fuel-saving version with 1.6 liter diesel and start-stop system as well as brake energy recovery was offered as GreenLine equipment until 2015 . In addition, tires with optimized rolling resistance and a smaller wheel diameter were used to reduce ground clearance and thus improve air resistance.

In 2009 the SUV was named Car of the Year in the Czech Republic .

The interior is stylistically based on the Škoda Superb . The rear seat concept was adopted from the Škoda Roomster .

Facelift

Škoda Yeti (from 2013)

In the fall of 2013, the Yeti received a mainly visual makeover. In addition, a variant without the typical SUV elements such as underrun protection, side strips and sills was also in the range. For the Chinese market in a locally was wheelbase extended by 6 centimeters version LWB ( Long Wheel Base ) was introduced.

The front of both versions was more horizontally equipped with a distinctive grille and redesigned headlights. As a further innovation there were now bi-xenon headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights. The front fog lights were now rectangular and were lower down in the front bumpers.

The rear has been redistributed: a new shape of the tailgate with rear lights in C-design contains two triangular elements and the new brand logo.

In June 2015, the engine range was adapted to meet the requirements of the Euro 6 emissions standard. The 1.8-liter gasoline engine was replaced by a new version of the 1.4-liter model and the 103 kW and 125 kW diesel engines by a new output level of 110 kW. All diesel models used AdBlue injection to reduce pollutants. From this point on, all engines were equipped with a start-stop system; the 1.6-liter diesel engine (GreenLine) was no longer available.
