The VW T-Roc (type A1) is a compact SUV from Volkswagen . It is based on the MQB platform and is a sister model of the Audi Q2 . The first vehicles were delivered on November 25, 2017.

A concept vehicle with the same name was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2014 . The production model of the T-Roc was presented on August 23, 2017 in the Villa Erba, an event center in Cernobbio on Lake Como (Italy).
An R version of the T-Roc was presented at the 89th Geneva Motor Show in March 2019 . It is made of 221 kW (300 hp) two-liter TSI -Motor from the Golf R driven. The drive is also used in other sport utility vehicles from the Volkswagen Group, such as the Audi SQ2 or the Seat Ateca .

The T-Roc has been built for the European market by Volkswagen Autoeuropa in Setúbal, Portugal, and for the Asian market by FAW-Volkswagen in Foshan, China, since August 2017 .

The standard equipment of all variants includes the lane departure warning system “Lane Assist” and the front assist with emergency braking function.
T-Roc Cabriolet
The T-Roc was presented as a convertible on August 14, 2019 . It is 34 mm longer than the closed version and is only available as a four-seater. The fully electric soft top can open and close in nine seconds up to a speed of 30 km / h. The Cabriolet is only available with the two lowest-performing petrol engines. The 110 kW (150 PS) variant is also available with a direct shift gearbox at an additional cost .
The convertible is manufactured by Volkswagen Osnabrück in the former Karmann plant .

Registration numbers
In the first sales year 2017, 1,851 T-Rocs - 670 of them with diesel drive and 358 with all-wheel drive - were newly registered in Germany. In 2018 there were 35,299 models - 6,159 of them with diesel drive and 11,408 with all-wheel drive. In 2019, 16,120 of a total of 58,898 T-Rocs were in a version with a diesel engine and 8,728 in a version with all-wheel drive.
Concept vehicle
The concept vehicle was presented at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. It was 4.18 meters long, 1.83 meters wide and 1.50 meters high. The wheelbase was 2595 mm. The vehicle had three doors and a removable roof so that the vehicle could also be converted into a convertible. The concept vehicle was powered by a two-liter diesel engine with a torque of 380 Nm and 135 kW, and the vehicle was also equipped with variable all-wheel drive. The driver could choose between three driving programs (Street, Offroad or Snow). In street mode, the concept vehicle accelerated from zero to 100 km / h in 6.9 seconds; the maximum speed was given as 210 km / h. The standard consumption should be 4.9 per 100 km liters.
