The Volkswagen Apollo was a car model produced and sold exclusively in Brazil between 1990 and 1992 . This was created during the joint venture ( Autolatina ) between Volkswagen and the Ford Motor Company in South America .

The model was just a version of the Brazilian Ford Verona , a two-door sedan based on the European Ford Orion , sold as a VW . This was followed in 1994 by the Pointer , which in turn was based on the Ford Escort .
