The VW Tayron is an SUV from Volkswagen that is based on the MQB platform and will initially be sold exclusively in China .
history
The vehicle was presented as a near-series model VW Advanced Midsize SUV during the premiere of the VW Touareg III in March 2018. Volkswagen finally presented the series vehicle at the Chengdu Motor Show in September 2018. It has been available in China since October 22, 2018. The Tayron is built by FAW-Volkswagen .
Since July 2020, Volkswagen has also been selling the Tayron X , a variant of the Tayron in the style of a fastback .
Technical specifications
To launch the SUV with a two-liter was TSI - gasoline engine available in two power levels. A 1.4-liter TSI petrol engine with 110 kW (150 PS) followed shortly afterwards. All of these variants have a 7-speed dual clutch transmission . A version with a plug-in hybrid drive came onto the market at the end of April 2020 . The drive comes from the Golf GTE , the system output is specified as 155 kW (211 PS). The electric range should be 54 km.
