The VW Gran Santana is the hatchback model of the VW Santana and was developed by Shanghai Volkswagen . The vehicle was presented to the public at Auto Shanghai 2015 and is only being built for the People's Republic of China . The Škoda Rapid Spaceback is identical in construction to the Gran Santana .

The Gran Santana was initially powered either by a 1.6-liter gasoline engine with an output of 81 kW (110 hp) or a 1.4-liter gasoline engine with a turbocharger and an output of 96 kW (131 hp). The latter was only available with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission . In 2018, both engines were replaced by a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with 81 kW (110 PS).
