The VW Golf Plus is a compact van built by Volkswagen from late 2004 to early 2014 . Like the Golf V, it is based on the PQ35 / A5 platform. With a facelift at the end of 2008, it was externally adapted to the Golf VI . A total of more than 930,000 Golf Plus vehicles were produced. The successor is the VW Golf Sportsvan .
Model history
On December 4, 2004, the Golf Plus was presented to the public at the Bologna Motor Show .
The Golf Plus is based on the same platform as the Golf V, but has a higher, newly developed body . Many parts of the Golf V were also used in the Golf Plus, such as engines, transmissions, headrests and exterior mirrors. In contrast to the normal Golf, standard LED rear lights were used in the Golf Plus - for the first time in the compact class.
Until the appearance of the special model Goal , “Golf” was written on the rear; from then on it said “Golf Plus” (on all models).
Equipment lines
The Golf Plus Trendline has the simplest basic equipment and is also the cheapest equipment variant. It offers standard including a Electronic Stability Program (ESP), remote control central locking, driver's seat with height adjustment and LEDs taillights.
Comfortline also offers the Climatic air conditioning system , 15-inch alloy wheels, storage compartments under the front seats, a multifunction display (MFA) and cruise control system (GRA).
The Sportline version offers 16-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, but also features such as a sports steering wheel and a leather gear knob. The rest of the equipment is similar to the Comfortline .
In addition to the basic equipment, the special model United offers, among other things, the Climatic air conditioning system , seats in the Surprise design , 16-inch alloy wheels, exterior mirror housings, United lettering , coming home function and leaving home function , RCD 210 radio system, fog lights, heated windscreen washer nozzles, Headlight cleaning system, ParkPilot , a multi-function display plus and cruise control system.
Facelift
The Golf Plus was revised at the end of 2008. This can mainly be seen in the headlights, which are adapted to the Golf VI .
The lenses of the rear lights are slightly darker than on the predecessor. The side view has hardly changed. The car has new hubcaps and light alloy wheels, as well as standard roof rails. In the interior, the design of the rev counter and speedometer (new with white backlighting; coolant temperature display is now integrated in the rev counter, fuel gauge in the speedometer) and the multi-function display have been renewed without taking over the instruments of the Golf VI, which are sunk in "tubes". The air conditioning got new controls.
The Trendline and Comfortline equipment lines were retained. The model with the highest basic equipment is called Highline .
The designated successor based on the Golf VII , the Golf Sportsvan, was presented at the IAA 2013 . It was launched in May 2014.
CrossGolf
In September 2006 the CrossGolf was presented. It is based on the Sportline of the Golf Plus and is another Cross model alongside CrossUP !, CrossPolo and CrossTouran. Like all Cross models from Volkswagen, the CrossGolf is only sold with front-wheel drive.
In spring 2010 the CrossGolf was revised and adapted to the current design line.
Since August 2012, CrossGolf has been sold in Austria under the name Golf Country.
Equipment variants
As with other Volkswagen models, the Golf Plus also featured the Trendline , Comfortline , Sportline and Highline equipment lines . Furthermore, the following special models were available over the entire production period:

Engines
- Seven petrol engine variants with an output of initially 55 kW (until 2006), later 59 kW to 125 kW.
- Five diesel engine variants with an output of 66-103 kW. All engines are also available with a diesel particulate filter (DPF), which increases consumption by 0.1–0.4 l diesel. The 1.9 TDI engine with 77 kW is also available with a 6-speed manual gearbox with DPF. The version with direct shift gearbox (DSG) has seven stages in combination with a DPF.
- Also available as BlueMotion , with 77 kW / 105 PS and 5-speed manual transmission. Change in engine management (lowering idle speed). Aerodynamic changes such as paneling of the underbody, low-friction tires and lowering the vehicle by 15 mm. The third, fourth and fifth gears of the transmission have a longer gear ratio. This means an average consumption of 4.8 l / 100 km can be achieved.
- A LPG variant (BiFuel) with an output of 72 kW and a 5-speed manual transmission.
