VW Santana
The VW Santana is a passenger car model from the German car manufacturer Volkswagen . The first generation is technically a second generation VW Passat , but as a four-door notchback sedan with improved equipment. The front section (indicators, headlights, bumper) has been modified. The rear area from the end of the roof / rear doors shows no visual relationship (e.g. wide transverse rear lights, trunk lid not pulled up to the bumper). In contrast to the Passat, a band of bumpers and side protection strips runs at a uniform height around the vehicle and creates an overall tightly structured appearance made up of predominantly straight elements.
With the facelift in January 1985, the Santana model disappeared from the catalog and was built as a Passat notchback with its current front. In China, the Santana was built as a tiered version and - here also under this name - as a station wagon version until at least December 2014.
Subsequent to the first generation of the Santana, the Santana 2000 and Santana 3000 models were manufactured by Volkswagen do Brasil (Brazil) and Shanghai Volkswagen (China). In 2013 a completely newly developed Santana was presented for the Chinese market.
