The VW New Compact Coupé ( VW NCC for short ) is a near-series concept vehicle from the German car manufacturer Volkswagen , which was presented in January 2010 at the NAIAS in Detroit. This two-door coupé has a hybrid drive and is to be positioned as a production model between the VW Scirocco and the Passat CC .
The New Compact Coupé , which is 4.54 meters long and based on the Golf, was designed by VW's head of design, Klaus Bischoff . The front view with LED daytime running lights is based on the VW Polo V , while the other body parts cannot be assigned to a specific VW series. The interior with a steering wheel with a flattened bottom, front sports seats, a continuous center console to the rear and two individual seats in the rear offers space for four people. The trunk volume is 380 liters.
The model is powered by a full hybrid engine in conjunction with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission . This hybrid drive consists of a 1.4-liter TSI - Otto engine with 110 kW (150 hp), 220 Nm torque and an electric motor of 20 kW (27 hp). Both work together in so-called boosting , for example when accelerating to overtake. This achieves a top speed of 227 km / h, acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h takes 8.6 seconds. A lithium-ion battery with 1.1 kWh in the rear of the vehicle serves as energy storage . During purely electric driving, the internal combustion engine is switched off and decoupled via a separating clutch in order to avoid idling torque losses . The latter also happens when the driver takes off the gas and lets the car “roll”. The New Compact Coupé also has a recuperation brake and a start-stop system . These measures to reduce fuel consumption lead to an average consumption of 4.2 liters per 100 kilometers and CO 2 emissions of 98 grams per kilometer.
