Klaus Zyciora
Klaus Zyciora (born Bischoff; born December 13, 1961 in Hamburg ) is a German automobile designer and Executive Director of Volkswagen Design. Since 2007 he has been responsible for the global design of the Volkswagen brand . In April 2020, Klaus Zyciora took over the management of design for the entire Volkswagen Group.
Life
Bischoff studied industrial design at the University of Fine Arts in Braunschweig . After graduating in 1989, he started working as an interior designer at Volkswagen. His first major project as an automobile designer was working on the interior of the Golf IV .
After positions as exterior designer and concept designer, Klaus Bischoff took over management of interior design in 2000 and exterior design in 2002.
As Executive Director of Volkswagen Design , Bischoff has been leading a team of over 600 designers in Wolfsburg, Shanghai , Sao Paulo and Mexico City since 2007 . Together with his team, he designs around 60 series models a year.
Milestones in his career are the Golf VI , Golf VII and Golf VIII , the SUV series Touareg , Tiguan and T-Roc as well as the vehicles of the ID family.
When he married, Bischoff took the name Zyciora.
The ID. family
The ID. With the closed face without a radiator grille, family refers to the roots of Volkswagen's design identity, which was established with the Beetle and the T1 .
The design concept should be characterized by long, seamless transitions for a sensual, flowing aesthetic. Light should become a design feature and symbol for electric mobility.
The design should create an independent e-family identity and the cars should be recognizable as electric at first glance.
