The VW Touran II is a compact van from Volkswagen . Like the Golf VII, it is based on the modular transverse matrix (MQB) . In 2019, 39,847 copies were newly registered in Germany. It was 22nd in the registration statistics. In 2016 there were still 52,560 copies, which was 11th in the registration statistics. Many other manufacturers have now withdrawn from the segment. The main competitors Ford C-Max and Opel Zafira were discontinued in 2019 .

The Touran II is around 13 cm longer and 3 cm wider than its predecessor, the Touran I , which primarily benefits the interior. It has three individual seats in the second row of seats, all of which are suitable for a child seat, and an interior width of 1518 mm. A third row of seats is optionally available. The trunk volume of the 5-seater model is 743 liters, with the second row of seats fully moved forward it is 834 liters, with the rear seats folded down it is 1980 liters. With the 7-seater, with the third row of seats up, luggage with a volume of 137 liters can be stowed behind it; if the third row of seats is sunk into the floor, the trunk volume is 633 liters. If the second row of seats is also folded in, you get a storage volume of 1857 liters.

The range of driver assistance systems has been expanded compared to the previous model. Available are, for example, ACC (adaptive cruise control) , lane change assistant , “blind spot sensor with parking assistant”, park steering assistant, multi-collision brake and a trailer maneuvering assistant. There is an optional electric tailgate opening function that can be activated by pressing a button in the cockpit, by pressing a button on the key, on the tailgate itself or optionally by moving your foot under the rear bumper.

The new Touran was officially presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2015. Production started at the Wolfsburg plant on May 26, 2015 .

The Touran II has been available to order in Germany since April 2015. The first vehicles were delivered in September 2015. When the Touran II was launched, it was available at a list price from € 23,350 (Trendline 1.2 TSI with 110 PS). Currently (as of April 30, 2020) the list prices start at € 31,580 (Comfortline 1.5 TSI with 150 PS).

Equipment lines

Originally, three equipment lines were offered for the Touran. The Trendline can in Germany since the summer of 2019, unlike no longer be ordered in many neighboring countries. The Trendline is externally recognizable on the radiator grille, where only the lower slat has a chrome strip. Roof rails and light alloy wheels are only available at an additional cost. These belong to the standard equipment of the next higher equipment variant, Comfortline . Based on the Comfortline , the special models Sound (2017), Join (2018), IQ.Drive (2019) and United (2020) were and will be offered in Germany with more extensive standard equipment. Technical data of the motors

The basic engine for the market launch is the 1.2-liter TSI engine with a maximum output of 81 kW (110 PS). From the start of the product line, two more gasoline engines with 1.4 liter displacement and 110 kW (150 hp) and 1.8 liter displacement with 132 kW (180 hp) complemented the range of gasoline engines.

When the diesel engines were launched, the basic engine was a 1.6-liter TDI engine with a maximum output of 81 kW (110 hp). There are also two further diesel engines with a displacement of 2.0 liters and a maximum output of 110 kW (150 PS) or 140 kW (190 PS).

In 2016, the capacity of the smallest diesel engine was increased to 85 kW (115 PS). Since 08/2019, the displacement of this diesel engine has also been 2.0 liters.

With the 2019 model year (from July 2018) the most powerful petrol engine will no longer exist the 1.2 and 1.4 liter TSI engines were replaced by 1.0 and 1.5 liter TSIs with gasoline particulate filters . For the 2020 model year, the 1.0-liter TSI engine was no longer available, so that only a petrol engine is offered.
