The VW Concept D is a design study by Volkswagen for a luxury class sedan presented at the IAA in Frankfurt am Main in autumn 1999 .

The vehicle has a V - ten-cylinder - turbo diesel engine is charged with 5.0 liters and 230 kW (313 hp) and a six-speed automatic transmission ( tiptronic with paddles on the steering wheel), aluminum chassis , electronically controlled air suspension with level control , Electric parking brake , bi- Xenon headlights and all-wheel drive .

The study is a five-door prototype of the VW Phaeton .
