A design study (also called a concept study ) is an object that has been designed and manufactured by a designer in order to present the most radical possible concept to the public, for example at an exhibition, and to estimate what it will do based on the reaction of potential buyers or professional critics Study can be taken over into series production.

Design studies are a common way of assessing the marketability of a design , especially for consumer and luxury goods. Vehicle manufacturers speak of concept vehicles .
