Nataniel Aguirre
Nataniel Aguirre , with full name Daniel Aguirre González de Prada (* 1843 in Cochabamba , † 1888 in Montevideo , Uruguay ) was a Bolivian poet and dramaturge , but also a journalist, lawyer, politician and diplomat. He held important public offices, including a member of parliament, prefect of Cochabamba, war and foreign minister. Leaning towards liberal positions, he called for agricultural reforms, stood up for the indigenous population and stood in opposition to President Narciso Campero in the constitutional conflict of 1880 .
In his novels and dramas he dealt with topics from Bolivian and Peruvian history. His novel Juan de la Rosa is widely regarded as the best Latin American novel of the 19th century.
