Continuous damping control

Continuous Damping Control (CDC or Skyhook chassis) is an electronic damping system ( adaptive chassis / suspension ) for motor vehicles manufactured by ZF Sachs .

It is now also installed in mid-range vehicles. Via solenoid valves is by this system of shock absorbers of each shock absorber controlled separately in consideration of the influences on the driving situation for each wheel and the damping force.

functionality

CDC gives the vehicle a much higher degree of driving safety, dynamics and comfort through a continuously varying and optimizing the damping forces for each wheel. In the millisecond range (10 ms) a separate evaluates control unit , the sensor signals from vehicle for Packaging, wheel and lateral acceleration of , recalculates the required damping force from this and sets it directly on the corresponding damper using an electrically controllable valve. The control loop follows the Skyhook principle. This aims to immobilisation of the vehicle body, regardless of driving and road conditions - comparable to a connection of the body to a solid "sky hook" ( Skyhook ) while driving, which thus is intended as a litter move parallel to the sky.
