The Volkswagen Sagitar is a lower middle class passenger car model. It has been built since 2006 by the Chinese car manufacturer FAW-Volkswagen as a sister model to the European VW Jetta in the plants in Changchun and Chengdu .
In North Korea it is produced as Zunma 1606 by Pyeonghwa Motor Plant . It is not known whether it is badge engineering or CKD kits .

The first generation of the Sagitar was introduced in China on April 9, 2006. It is based on the fifth generation of the VW Jetta .

The second generation of the vehicle has been on sale in China since March 7, 2012 based on the VW Jetta VI . Since April 20, 2013, the 147 kW (200 PS) GLI sport version has been added to the model range. In 2015 the Sagitar was revised.

The third generation of the Sagitar was introduced in January 2019 and has been sold in China since March 2019. Technically it is based on the VW Jetta VII , but has a longer wheelbase. The previous model is still offered.
