The Volkswagen Polo VI is the sixth generation of the Polo and is produced by Volkswagen . It was unveiled on June 16, 2017. Series production started on July 17, 2017 at the Pamplona plant of Volkswagen Navarra SA ; It has been available for order since August 4, 2017. Production locations are the plant in Pamplona (Spain) and the VW plant in Uitenhage (South Africa). Since September 29, 2017, it has been presented in the sales rooms of VW dealers in Germany.

The Polo VI is based on the new MQB-A0 platform. After the Seat Ibiza V presented in January 2017, it is the second vehicle on this platform, which is now (2020) used for almost 20 models from Seat, Volkswagen, Audi and Škoda. The Polo is only available as a five-door sedan.

The notchback version of the Polo VI ( VW Virtus ) is only built and sold in Brazil .

Vehicle class and size comparison

Like its predecessor, the Polo VI is considered a small car ; When it was first introduced, Volkswagen referred to it as a “sub-compact”. The Polo is 4053 millimeters long, around 80 millimeters longer than the previous model and longer than the first three generations of the Golf . In terms of the converted volume, it is almost the same size as the hatchback versions of the Golf IV and Passat B2 . The wheelbase of the Polo has been lengthened by 78 millimeters to 2548 millimeters; 69 millimeters in width have been added (now 1,751 millimeters without the mirror). The c w value (1.0 TSI Comfortline) is 0.31 (frontal area 2.1 m²). The trunk volume with the rear seats upright is 351 liters (71 liters more than the Polo V).
