The VW Santana is a lower mid-range notchback sedan developed by Shanghai Volkswagen . The Santana is produced in Chengdu .
history
The VW Santana , which was introduced in China in 1984, was developed into the Santana 2000 in 1995 and the Santana 3000 and Santana Vista in 2004 . At the same time, the original version of the Santana remained in production until 2010, mainly for use as a taxi and by authorities. The new Santana generation, which was tested in 2012 and introduced in spring 2013, has been completely redeveloped for the Chinese market in order to meet the demands that have also grown in China.
It is available with two naturally aspirated engines and one turbo engine: for example, it is available with a 1.4-liter engine with an output of 66 kW (90 hp) or a 1.6-liter engine with an output of 81 kW ( 110 PS) and optional 6- speed automatic transmission and a 1.4-liter TSI engine with an output of 96 kW (131 PS) and a standard 7-speed double clutch transmission .
