Coming home function

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As Coming Home function (Engl., Come home ') denote some automakers a function by which, after leaving the car, the headlights still afterglow for a certain time and then automatically switch off. The purpose of this is to illuminate the way from the parking lot to the front door, i.e. to make it easier to come home, and to make the vehicle more visible while getting out.

Depending on the car model, this function is activated in different ways after removing the ignition key : by operating the headlight flasher , in the dark by the light sensor of the automatic light system or by the fact that the light was switched on while driving. The afterglow period can be set in the on-board computer for some vehicle models .

In some vehicles, the headlights turn on by remote control even after the vehicle has been opened in order to illuminate the path from the front door to the car. This function is referred to as the leaving home function .

Modules are available to retrofit these functions on older vehicles.
