FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Co. Ltd. is a company in the automotive industry from the People's Republic of China .
description
The company was founded on February 6, 1991. The seat is in Changchun . Involved China FAW Group , Volkswagen AG , the Audi AG and Volkswagen (China) Investment. Another source only mentions FAW with 60%, VW with 30% and Audi with 10% of the shares. The company manufactures automobiles . They are marketed under the internationally used brand names VW and Audi. It is also FAW-VW and FAW Audi from May 2006. The own brand Jetta was added in 2019 . Since July 2007 there has been another production plant in Chengdu . In 2008, 8,844 people were employed.
Volkswagen also operates the SAIC Volkswagen joint venture with SAIC Motor . The reason for this strategy is the regional differences that can be found between Beijing and Shanghai . FAW-Volkswagen focuses on the Beijing market in the north, where performance and prestige-oriented customers can be found, while SAIC Volkswagen concentrates on fun and lifestyle-oriented customer segments that are more likely to be found on the Shanghai market in the south. However, it must be mentioned that some series from both manufacturers are only offered under different model names. Examples include VW Bora or VW Tacqua from FAW-Volkswagen and, equivalently, VW Lavida Plus or VW T-Cross from SAIC Volkswagen.

criticism
The Chinese carmaker uses patents and design documents from VW, in violation of the contract, to build engines and transmissions for its own division. These vehicles are also sold in countries where VW is a competitor. When contract worker Fu Tianbo demonstrated in 2017 for the same wages as permanent employment, the police arrested him and he disappeared.
