Xuhui
Xuhui (徐汇 区Xúhuì Qū ) is one of the “inner” districts of the Chinese government- direct city of Shanghai . It has 886,071 inhabitants (2003) on an area of 54.76 square kilometers (of which 3.82 square kilometers is water surface). The population density is 16,181 inhabitants per square kilometer. The district government has its seat at Caoxi Beilu (漕溪北路) No. 336.
Until 1949 the district was still called Xujiahui Qu (徐家汇 区 = Xu family district). To this day, the area around the central intersection of Xuhuis bears the name Xujiahui . The Chinese Christian Xu Guangqi (徐光启), a disciple of the famous Italian missionary Matteo Ricci , also came from this Xu family .
Administrative structure
At the community level, Xuhui consists of twelve street districts and one large community . These are:
- Road quarter Xujiahui (徐家汇街道), Government seat of the district;
- Caohejing Street District (漕河泾 街道);
- Road quarter Changqiao (长桥街道);
- Fenglin Lu Street (枫林 路 街道);
- Hongmei Lu Street (虹梅 路 街道);
- Road neighborhood Hunan Lu (湖南路街道);
- Kangjian Xincun Street District (康健 新村 街道);
- Road neighborhood Lingyun Lu (凌云路街道);
- Road quarter Longhua (龙华街道);
- Road quarter Tianlin (田林街道);
- Tianping Lu Street (天平 路 街道);
- Xietu Lu Street (斜土 路 街道);
- Greater community Huajing (华泾镇).
