Street district
A street district ( Chinese 街道 辦事處 / 街道 办事处 , Pinyin jiēdào bànshìchù ) is an administrative unit at the municipality level in the People's Republic of China .
The municipality level follows in the administrative structure of the People's Republic of China under the district level (districts, banners, autonomous districts, autonomous banners, urban districts, urban districts, special areas). At this level there are currently 40,497 units (December 31, 2013), of which 7,566 are street districts (18.68%).
Street districts are the urban equivalent of rural communities and large communities .
