Baoshan (Shanghai)
Baoshan ( Chinese 宝山 区 , Pinyin Bǎoshān Qū ) is a municipality in the Chinese government-direct city of Shanghai . It has 854,340 inhabitants (2003) on an area of 415.27 square kilometers. The population density is 2,057 inhabitants per square kilometer.
Baoshan is the northernmost district in Shanghai. It borders the mouth of the Yangtze in the north and is known for its large steel mill. The Huangpu River flows into the Yangtze to the east of the city of Baoshan .
In 1988, Baoshan was transformed from a county into today's municipality.
