Qingpu

Qingpu (青浦 区, Qīngpǔ Qū ) is a district in the west of the Chinese government- direct city ​​of Shanghai . It has approx. 480,000 inhabitants (end of 2016) on an area of ​​668.52 square kilometers. The population density is 715 inhabitants per square kilometer.

Qingpu is the westernmost district in Shanghai. It borders on Dianshan Lake , the only freshwater reservoir in Shanghai, and is traversed by Dianpu He and Wusong Jiang . In Qingpu, excavations found 2,000 year old settlements. Zhujiajiao , the “Venice of Shanghai”, is also located in Qingpu and is a popular tourist destination.

The German School Shanghai is located in the district of Qingpu as well as numerous factories and offices of foreign companies due to tax advantages.

There is also the Qingpu Prison in the district , which has inmates from 40 foreign nations.

Administrative structure

Qingpu is made up of three street districts and eight large communities . These are:

  • Road quarter Yingpu (盈浦街道);
  • Greater community Baihe (白鹤镇);
  • Greater community Chonggu (重固镇);

  • Greater community Liantang (练塘镇);
  • Greater community Xujing (徐泾镇);
  • Greater community Zhaoxiang (赵巷镇);
  • Large village Zhujiajiao (朱家角镇).
