Nelson Mason
Nelson Mason (born October 13, 1987 in Niagara Falls , Ontario ) is a Canadian racing driver . He competed in the GP3 series in 2014 .
Career
Mason began his motorsport career in karting , where he was active around the year 2000. In 2007 he made his debut in formula racing . He took part in the Formula Ford Festival this year and next . 2010 Mason entered the Italian Formula 3 championship for the Ghinzani team to six races, in which he remained without points. A 13th place was his best result.
After several years without racing activities, Mason first took part in a full motorsport season in 2013 at the age of 25. He received a full-time cockpit with Team West-Tec in the European F3 Open . Mason managed to win the season opener in Le Castellet . At the race weekend in Jerez he won both races. Mason made the podium seven times and finished in the top five in eleven of 16 races. He finished his first full motorsport season in third place overall. He lost to Ed Jones , one of his teammates who won the championship. Mason also won a race in the winter series of the European F3 Open in 2013. He also recorded for Jo Zeller Racing on the Macau Grand Prix in 2013 in part.
In 2014 Mason moved to Hilmer Motorsport in the GP3 series . He was the only driver in his racing team who was used in every race. Mason missed the points and a tenth place was his best result. He finished the season as the best driver without points in 22nd place overall.
