Diego Menchaca
Diego Menchaca González-Quintanilla (born October 20, 1994 in Mexico City ) is a Mexican racing driver . It starts in the GP3 series in 2018 .
Career
Menchaca began his motorsport career in 2006 in kart racing , in which he remained active until 2009. In 2010 he made his debut in formula racing and started two races in the LATAM Challenge Series . He reached the 26th place overall. In the 2011 season he was consistently active in the series and was third overall with three podium finishes.
In 2012 Menchaca moved to Europe and competed for Fortec Motorsport in the British Formula Renault . He finished eleventh in the championship. In 2013 Menchaca remained partly active in the British Formula Renault. He took part in some races for Jamun Racing Services and reached 18th place. His main focus of the season was on the BRDC Formula 4 Championship , in which he finished the championship in tenth place for MGR Motorsport . In 2014 Menchaca switched to Douglas Motorsport within the BRDC Formula 4 Championship . With a win he improved to seventh championship place.
In 2015 Menchaca received a cockpit in the Euroformula Open at Campos Racing . While his teammate Konstantin Tereschtschenko was runner-up, he achieved eighth place overall with a second place as the best result. In the Euro Formula Open Season 2016 Menchaca stayed with Campos Racing. With four third places, he improved to fourth place in the overall standings, while his teammate Leonardo Pulcini won the title. In 2017 Menchaca switched to Fortec Motorsport in the World Series Formula V8 3.5 . With a third place he reached a podium placement and was ninth overall.
In 2018 Menchaca returned to Campos Racing and received a cockpit in the GP3 series .
