Building a racing weekend

Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup

There are two training sessions per weekend, both on Fridays, followed by 2 qualification sessions on Saturday (3 until 2017). The sessions last 20 minutes each. In the first qualification, the first driver of the team drives the second in the second. There is a point for the Pole in one of the sessions. The two races last an hour. A mandatory pit stop must be made between the 25th and 35th minute of the race. The format in which the points are awarded has been new since 2018 in order to make the Sprint Cup more relevant for the overall title.

Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup

For the endurance races there is a practice session and a “pre-qualifying” on Friday. The three qualifying sessions follow on Saturday, with one of the drivers driving in each. If only 2 drivers are registered on a car, the driver with the poorer FIA assessment must complete two sessions. Since 2018, the average time of the meetings has been used for the starting grid. There is another point for the pole. Then the race follows on Sundays. The races in Monza, Silverstone and Barcelona last three hours with the points (25-18-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1), Paul Richard serves as the test for the 24 hours of Spa and lasts six Hours with modified points (33-24-19-15-12-9-6-4-2-1), and for the 24 hours of Spa, half points (12-9-7-6- 5-4-3-2-1) and after 24 hours full points (25-18-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1) are awarded.
