Andrea Caldarelli
Andrea Caldarelli (born February 14, 1990 in Pescara ) is an Italian racing driver . He competed in the Super Formula with interruptions from 2011 to 2015 .
Career
After Caldarelli began his motorsport career in karting in 2000 , which he practiced until 2003, he switched to formula racing after a year off . With a win he finished fourth in the Formula Azzurra . In 2006 he switched to the Italian Formula Renault and finished 14th in the overall standings. He also won a race in the Asian Formula Renault Challenge and made his debut in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup . In 2007 Caldarelli switched to the Prema Powerteam , for which he competed in both the Italian Formula Renault and the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup. In 2008 he started in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup and in the Western European Formula Renault. ForStarting SG Formula , he finished third in the overall standings in both championships. In 2009 Caldarelli stayed with SG Formula and drove in the Formula 3 Euro Series . With a third place as the best result, he finished 14th overall. From 2007 to 2009 Caldarelli was in the Toyota Young Driver Program . In December 2008 he took part in Formula 1 test drives for Toyota as part of this program .
In 2010 Caldarelli moved to the Italian Formula 3 championship for Prema Junior . He won three races and finished the season in third place overall. As a reward for this achievement, he was given the opportunity to take part in Formula 1 test drives for Scuderia Ferrari at the beginning of December . In 2011 Caldarelli started for Ocean Racing Technology in the GP2 Asia series . He finished 21st in the drivers' championship. He was then committed by Tech 1 Racing for the season of the GP3 series . Caldarelli left the GP3 series and Europe after the second race weekend for Japan , as Toyota gave him the opportunity to drive in Formula Nippon . At that point he was in second place in the championship. At the end of the season he finished tenth overall. In 2011 , he competed for Kondō Racing in Formula Nippon . He remained without points and was 16th overall.
In 2012 Caldarelli switched to the Super GT and got a cockpit with the Lexus Team KeePer Kraft . He formed a driver duo with Yūji Kunimoto . The two finished 13th in the drivers' championship. In 2013, Caldarelli competed in the Super GT for Lexus Team KeePer TOM’S together with Daisuke Itō . With two podium placements, the two achieved eighth place overall. He also represented Loïc Duval at Kygnus Sunoco Team LeMans in three races of the 2013 Super Formula season , the successor to Formula Nippon. In 2014, Caldarelli and Ito won a Super GT race and finished the season in second place. In addition, he again represented Duval twice in the Super Formula. He came third once. Caldarelli also took part in two races of the Asian GT Championship.
In 2015 Caldarelli competed in the Super GT for TOM'S together with Ryō Hirakawa . The two won two races and finished fifth in the drivers' championship. In addition, he took part in the 2015 Super Formula season as a full-time driver for Lenovo Team Impul and achieved 14th place in the overall ranking. He also took part in races in the Asian GT championship.

Caldarelli is a brother-in-law of the racing car driver Vitantonio Liuzzi .
