Daisuke Itō ( Japanese 伊藤 大 輔 , Itō Daisuke ; born November 5, 1975 in Mie Prefecture ) is a Japanese racing car driver .

Career

After starting out in Formula 3 , Daisuke Itō became one of the most successful drivers in the Japanese GT championship in the 2000s and 2010s . He had his best season in the Japanese Formula 3 Championship in 1998, when he reached fourth place in the championship (Master Peter Dumbreck ) on a Dallara 397 .

In the Super GT he was competitive right from the start and competed for different racing teams in the following years. First he drove for the teams of the former Formula 1 drivers Satoru Nakajima and Kunimitsu Takahashi , then he was a works driver for Dome , Honda and Lexus . His first victory in a championship run was the 300 km race in Sugo 2000 , together with Dominik Schwager in the Honda NSX . His last race victory dates from the season 2015. Ito won with partner James Rossiter in the Lexus RC F , the 1000 km race at Suzuka .

Between 2000 and 2018, Daisuke Itō achieved 15 racing victories, including successes in events without championship status. He twice ended the racing year as the overall winner of the GT 500 class; 2007 with Ralph Firman in the Honda NSX and 2010 with Björn Werdenheim in the Lexus SC430 . His only participation in the Le Mans 24-hour race ended in 2008 with 33rd place overall in the works dome S102 .
