The following list sorts the federal states of the Federal Republic of Germany according to their expenditure on research and development (R&D). The share of expenditures is also given as a share of the gross domestic product ( research intensity ) of the respective country. R & D spending in the business sector , the government sector and in the higher education sector recorded.
