Dome S102 2008 in Le Mans

The Dome S102 is a closed Le Mans prototype of the LMP1 class developed by Dome and has been used in sports car races since 2008. It is the successor to the S101.5 .

The vehicle made its debut in the pre-tests for the 2008 Le Mans 24 Hours after being tested for the first time in late March. But before that, parts and the engine were tested in a modified S101.5 .

In qualifying for the 24 Hours of Le Mans , eighth place and the second fastest time for a gasoline-powered car was a remarkable success. In the race for the drivers Tatsuya Kataoka , Yūji Tachikawa and Daisuke Itō due to many problems only a 33rd and last place was possible. Dome himself was responsible for racing. The vehicle was powered by a Judd GV5.5 S2 engine with 5.5 l displacement in V10 design. This developed around 470 kW (639 hp).

For 2009 it was announced that the S102 will return to Le Mans with a Toyota hybrid engine . For budget reasons, no deployment was carried out in 2009 and 2010 and the project was discontinued.
