Ryan Tveter (born May 20, 1994 in New Canaan , Connecticut ) is an American racing driver . He has been part of the GP3 series since 2017 .

Career

Tveter began his motorsport career in 2011 in formula racing . Tveter does not have any experience in karting . For Jensen Motorsports he started three races in the Formula Tour 1600 and two races in the US F2000 National Championship . In 2012 Tveter competed in several races in the Star Mazda Championship for Team GDT . He was 18th in the drivers' championship.

In 2013, Tveter decided to move to Europe. For Fortec Competition he started in the Northern European Formula Renault . With a fourth place as the best result, he was 16th in the drivers' championship. He also made four guest starts in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup for Fortec . In early 2014 Tveter drove for Giles Motorsport in the Toyota Racing Series in New Zealand. With two third places as the best results, he finished the overall ranking in 17th place. Then Tveter competed for Josef Kaufmann Racing in the northern European Formula Renault. While his team-mate Louis Delétraz finished second overall, Tveter achieved ninth place overall with a second place as the only podium finish. In addition, Tveter started for Josef Kaufmann Racing in the first six of seven events of the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup. There he was 23rd in the drivers' championship.

In 2015 Tveter switched to Jagonya Ayam with Carlin in the European Formula 3 Championship . Eer finished the season in 23rd place overall. In 2016 , Tveter stayed with Carlin in the European Formula 3 championship. Tveter was involved in a serious accident at the first run in Spielberg . He slid into the gravel and turned back on the track. His teammate Li Zhi Cong failed to see him because of the dust that was thrown up and crashed into his stern. As a result, Tveter's vehicle turned and Pedro Piquet , who was driving behind it , drove into Tveter's car. Tveter left the car on his own and collapsed in the run-off zone. Tveter was taken to the hospital where he was diagnosed with a bruised knee. Li broke four vertebrae in the accident, Piquet was uninjured. Tveter got out of the championship after the seventh race weekend. He was 17.

In 2017 , Tveter started in the GP3 series for Trident . At the end of the day he was 8th in the drivers' championship.
